What Are We Waiting For?

How many times have we said, "Someday"?

Someday I'll take that trip.

Someday I'll learn something new.

Someday I'll spend more time with the people I care about.

Someday I'll finally do that thing I've always wanted to try.

The word sounds harmless.

But "someday" can become a very effective way of postponing the life we actually want to live.

We tell ourselves we're too busy right now.

Work comes first.

The timing isn't right.

We'll do it when things slow down.

The problem is that life rarely announces when the timing is finally right.

There is always another deadline.

Another responsibility.

Another reason to wait.

At some point, we have to recognize that waiting for the perfect time may simply mean waiting forever.

That doesn't mean abandoning our responsibilities or acting without thinking.

It means paying attention to the things we repeatedly say we'll get to later.

Because those things may be telling us something.

They may be pointing toward experiences, relationships, interests, or possibilities that matter more than we realize.

Sometimes the most important question isn't, "Do I have time for this?"

It's, "Will I wish I had made time for this?"

We don't get to know exactly how much time we have.

But we do get to decide what we do with the time we have today.

Maybe "someday" doesn't need to be a date on the calendar.

Maybe it can start with one small step today.

What's something you've been telling yourself you'll do someday?
